Happy birthday Disneyland Paris! To celebrate, here is an extended loop of the original music from the Welcome and Goodbye sections of it's a small world at Disneyland Paris. It was used from the park's opening on April 12, 1992, until the major refurbishment between July and Dec 2015. It was one track, which is the beautiful main theme instrumental from the John Debney soundtrack that was made specifically for Disneyland Paris. Most other versions of it's a small world use the 1964 World's Fair soundtrack. Although I certainly prefer the 1964 soundtrack to the 1992 soundtrack, I do think that both soundtracks are beautifully orchestrated, and I also really like that the Paris IASW has its own unique soundtrack that was designed specifically and exclusively for that version. Despite there being some rides, including small world, that I would clone at every Castle park if I had the chance, I also really love how each version of it's a small world is unique from the other, and the Paris one is easily the most unique. The 1992-2015 Paris Welcome room featured many banners and postcards depicting scenes from many areas of the world. I think the general idea of banners in the Welcome room was borrowed from the original Welcome room at Disneyland from 1966-1991, despite the banners in the DL Welcome room being replaced with the current sea serpent scene a year before Disneyland Paris opened. The Goodbye room from 1992-2015 featured more banners and postcards, and the postcards feature children from around the world. The idea of postcards in the Goodbye room would appear again since 1999 for the current Disneyland Goodbye room. These sections were modeled in the same style as the rest of the Paris version. This is a different interpretation of the classic Mary Blair style used in the other versions. The colors are similarly vibrant, but the Paris style is generally more rounded and less angular than the original Mary Blair style. In 2015, these versions were replaced with the current versions, which use the flowers and kites that were designed for Walt Disney World in the 1970's and early 1980's, which are rendered in the original Mary Blair style. Although I absolutely love and adore the Mary Blair style, I don't think it fits as well in this version where the rest of the ride is in a different art style. They also changed the audio to include vocals in various languages. I wish Paris would bring back their 1992-2015 visuals in the Welcome and Goodbye rooms. I hope you enjoy this audio!
