We Went To SEMA For The First Time And It Was...

Well, we finally did it! We crossed off another bucket list item for my husband, Shawn, and that was to finally go to SEMA in Las Vegas, NV! What a sight to behold. 4.6 million sq. interior ft. of nothing but cars and products for cars. The place was so huge we were not able to cover all of the inside portion because it is not housed under 1 roof but several on different levels and some places (the West Hall) took a bit of walking to get to. It was easy to get lost, but it wasn't always a bad thing to get lost, because sometimes that's when you find the coolest things. We met a lot of great people there and some wonderful vendors from across the globe, and we're hopeful we will be doing business with some of them. :) For those of you who have never been to SEMA - it is A LOT of walking. The interior space alone was 4.6 million sq ft. (excluding hallways, corridors to other buildings, and off shoot rooms; this was JUST the exhibition halls combined. The outside areas are 2Xs the size - 9.2 million sq ft. I will say, their signage was way better than some casinos we went through. They labeled everything very well to find the area where certain booths were that we were looking for. We learned a lot of how to get to the show, what to bring, what not to bring, where to stay, if we should rent a car or not, etc. There are some key tips: 1) Dress Code: Casual - but not sloppy casual - just one step under business casual is preferred. 2) Wear Comfortable Shoes - don't go in heels, sandals, flip-flops, steel toes, etc. You will be doing A LOT of walking and standing. 3) Bring a charger for the phone (plug in charger and cord) - they do have power charging stations but it cost $ for X number of minutes. So it is cheaper to bring your own stuff and sit somewhere and charge the phone and there are a number of quiet places to sit. :) SCORE on that one! 4) Make sure to eat - their food was AWESOME! very very delicious and not crazy expensive. 5) Get the SEMA app to also help you find your way - in some places the reception is spotty as it depends on where you are. There's a lot of concrete and metal, so expect cell service to be quirky. 6) Along with the SEMA app, make sure to get the paper maps - that's even more helpful. 7) Don't steal & damage other peoples items at the booths - unfortunately this had to be said as there was some theft going on and people peeling the wraps off custom cars. Be respectful and treat it as if it were your own. These people work hard for their stuff too. As far as where to stay...anywhere on the strip the main rail serves is ideal. Otherwise you will do what we had to and go through 4 casinos to get to the main station to ride the rail up to the convention center. The car rental is up to y'all. We have decided if we go again (whether it be 2024-2026) time frame, we will NOT be getting a rental car as there was no need for it (for us anyways). It sat in the parking garage for 95% of the days we were there as most everything is accessible by rail. We hope you enjoy the video as we slowly ease our way back into a schedule. It was just a perfect storm this time of where everything decided to come at once and chaos ensued, but we prevailed through it.
