RAW: The moment police intercepted alleged ‘kill team’ in Sydney #breakingnews #australia #crime #police #arrest Footage released by police media shows tactical units carrying out a major operation, resulting in the arrests of several men linked to an alleged ‘kill team’. Detectives allege the men charged – Kevin Mundine, 19, Greall Tighe, 18, and Tyrone Tuiluga Rio, 26 – were a “kill team” who had been hired due to an internal feud within a South-East Asian organised crime group. In a police press conference, Assistant Commissioner Scott Cook said the arrest on River Road was a “calculated and co-ordinated intervention”. “I think due to the coverage we had across these people, and I can’t understate the amount of resources that we have on this strike force … we were fortunately in a position to react and stop that from occurring,” he said. “It was clear that once we arrested these people, what these cowards were actually going to do. “It was clear – they were driving in a stolen collar, cloned plates, they had balaclavas; enough indicators.” During the arrest, police found two firearms, balaclavas, bodyworn cameras and jerry cans containing fuel during a search of the cars. Photos released by police on Wednesday afternoon showed a pink handgun alongside a GoPro, which were seized. Mr Cook said the alleged plot could have put multiple bystanders at risk. “We will allege in court the men were en route to attempt to kill a man in close vicinity of a daycare centre in southwestern Sydney,” Mr Cook said. “The fact this group were prepared to kill an individual in a location where so much collateral damage could have been caused is of significant concern to the NSW Police Force.” The two younger men were arrested in one car and the 26-year-old in a second vehicle. The younger men have been charged with conspiracy to commit murder, possess unauthorised pistol, be carried in conveyance taken without consent of owner, participate in a criminal group and breach of bail. The 26-year-old has been charged with conspiracy to commit murder and participate in a criminal group.
