WATCH FULL SCREEN: Richard Martin's book, "Thorium • Superfuel" was a harbinger of the 'nuclear renaissance' by bringing to the public the subject of thorium and molten salt reactor technology. Thorium Community has added text and images to amplify the author's 2012 Googletalk presentation that covers many points from his study: nuclear power's decline today, due to lack of innovation, the rise of cheap fossil fuel, and the several nuclear accidents, the aftereffects of which paled in comparison with those of oil, coal and gas-related disasters. Martin also offers a look at Liquid Fluoride Thorium Reactor (LFTR) technology, and the missed opportunity to develop MSRs over conventional reactors since their introduction in the 1960s. Plus: Pacific Northwest National Laboratory's short, "The Molten Salt Reactor Revival". PNNL, is a U.S. Department of Energy research facility in Washington state.
