What is this bump on the front of the knee? It is called Osgood-Schlatter Disease. 👉What causes Osgood-Schlatter's? This is where the growth plate in the tibia (larger lower leg bone) has new growing cells and are a little softer. Your patella tendon attaches at this bump on the front of your knee. When the large quadriceps (muscle on the front of the thigh) muscle contracts, the patella tendon pulls on the growth plate and forces the new growing cells to get pulled on therefore causing a bump on the front of the knee. 👉This most often occurs in individuals who are active and in their early teens especially when playing sports or doing activities that require lots of squatting. 👉Unfortunately, this is hard to treat. The individual may have to rest from some activity like jumping, squatting, running and quick changes of direction. 👉A protective knee pad can help to protect the bump on the front of the knee from trauma to the area. 👉Once the growth plate has closed and "healed" it is less likely to be painful with activity and only painful when pressure is directly applied to the bump on the front of the knee. The bump is likely to remain the rest of your life. ✅ Support OEP: https://paypal.me/OrthoEvalPal?locale... ✅ OEP Website: https://orthoevalpal.com/ ✅ Online Coaching: https://orthoevalpal.com/coaching ✅ OEP Podcasts: https://orthoevalpal.com/podcast ▶▶ Like us on Facebook: / orthoevalpal ▶▶ Follow on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/ ▶▶ Follow on Twitter: https://twitter.com/home #bumponknee #osgoodschlatter #kneepain #knee #OrthoEvalPal #SpecialTests #Orthopedics #physicaltherapy #athletictraining #chiropractic #occupationaltherapy
