Today is the annual event of the Victorian Fete in Oamaru but first we’re gonna check out a more permanent feature of Oamaru’s Victorian side, Steampunk HQ. Steampunk HQ is a steampunk museum in Oamaru with art with a steampunk theme from all over the world. This place really gets your imagination going! Not only are there steampunk sculptures and interactive inventions on the inside of the grand Victorian heritage building, there are steampunk vehicles in the yard outside. One of the highlights of Oamaru Steampunk HQ is The Portal. A weird and whacky infinite-looking room with a mesmerising light display and music. Now that we’ve had our dose of Victorian-inspired sci-fi, we move onto the streets of Oamaru where the Oamaru Victorian Festival is happening. The Victorian festival in Oamaru, or Victorian Fete, occurs every November with people dressed in Victorian attire, there are stalls, food, competitions, penny farthing lessons, live music and so much more!
