Unpacking the Hard Stuff | March 8, 2026

This Lent, you are invited into a six-week journey called Unpacking the Hard Stuff, where we face some of Jesus’ most challenging words head-on. Drawing loosely from Amy-Jill Levine’s "The Difficult Words of Jesus," we wrestle honestly with scripture rather than explain it away. From Jesus’ call to sell what we own (Mark 10:17–27) to his shocking command to hate father and mother (Luke 14:26–27), we ask what faithfulness really costs. We explore what it means to become a servant of all (Mark 10:44) and why Jesus once limited his mission to Israel alone (Matthew 10:5b–6). Together we confront the troubling image of outer darkness (Matthew 25:30) and what it reveals about judgment, mercy and hope. This Lenten season, come ready to listen deeply, ask hard questions and discover how these difficult teachings can still lead us toward grace, transformation and faithful discipleship. Message: Rev.
