Transfer Tape Roller

Applying transfer tape to longer sections of vinyl was becoming more and more difficult. I was fortunate enough to find a few ideas on the internet. This video is of a quick afternoon build of a roller for application of transfer tape for vinyl graphics. I was using a large straight edge to roll out the transfer tape before, and results were inconsistent with longer lengths. I saw the idea for a homemade roller on FB and made a mix-up of a few different builds that are out there. I wanted more angle control than a single spindle through the core would allow, and more stability than the double roller "sit-on-top" configuration. The combination of thought the core, with a directional bar seemed to be the best of both worlds. The end product worked as desired, but time will tell if any adjustments need to be made. Commercially, you can buy a lightweight roller for around $30 and a heavier option for around $60. The video took longer to make than the roller itself, and all together it was about $30 US with more stability, but will be harder to change out rolls quickly.
