Bajiprabhu Deshpande is remembered for his incredible bravery in Indian history. He fought alongside Shivaji Maharaj during challenging times when they were up against powerful enemies. One of the most famous incidents was during the siege of Panhala fort. Shivaji Maharaj and his men were trapped by the enemy. To escape, they planned a risky move. On a stormy night, Bajiprabhu led a group of brave soldiers to defend a narrow pass called Ghod Kind. Despite being vastly outnumbered, Bajiprabhu stood his ground with courage. He fought fiercely, using two swords to hold back wave after wave of enemy soldiers. He sustained serious injuries but refused to give up until he heard three cannon shots from Vishalgad, signaling Shivaji Maharaj's safe escape. Bajiprabhu's sacrifice allowed Shivaji Maharaj and his remaining soldiers to reach safety. In honor of his bravery, Shivaji Maharaj renamed Ghod Kind pass to Pavan Kind, symbolizing the purity of Bajiprabhu's sacrifice.
