Dr. Keaten from Mainely Veterinary Dentistry discusses recognizing fractured upper 4th premolars (carnassials). This is a very common problem in our dog patients because they like to chew on things and they chew mostly with the upper 4th premolar and the lower 1st molar. Many people also give their dogs antlers and bones and other hard things to chew on because it helps remove plaque and tartar but it removes tooth with it and is the most common cause for fractured premolars and molars. Mainely Veterinary Dentistry's mission is to improve and maintain the overall health and well-being of pets and the human-animal bond by addressing and advocating for the oral health of cats and dogs. To that end we will provide high quality and compassionate veterinary dentistry services and education to small animal pet owners as well as training and education to general practitioners and their support staff in New England. Core Values: Teamwork, Empowerment, Advocacy, Care, Honesty (TEACH) We embrace clear, direct, kind and honest communication with each other and work as a team to complete tasks efficiently and grow as a team.
