Every October, Guadalajara comes alive with one of Jalisco’s most meaningful and vibrant celebrations: Las Fiestas de Octubre—a season where faith, tradition, music, and community come together. In this video, we experience three essential parts of the celebration: 🐎 La Expo Ganadera, where the Virgen de Zapopan arrives in a moving convoy filled with music, devotion, and collective prayer. As the crowd sings and shouts “¡Que Viva!”, the Virgin is honored as La Virgen de Zapopan, la Virgen de Guadalajara, la Virgen de Chapala, and la Virgen de la Expo Ganadera. We then explore the Expo grounds, seeing livestock, meeting vendors, and purchasing traditional cowboy shirts. We loved the animal exhibits, the food and the cowboy shirts we purchased from the Yanco West store. 🎡 La Feria de Octubre, where the celebration turns festive with carnival rides, regional food, and live music. At the Auditorio Benito Juárez, we experience performances that reflect Jalisco’s musical soul. We also had a glimpse into the traditional Palenque with a powerful moment as Alejandro Fernández sings—joined by thousands of voices singing along. 🙏 La Romería de la Virgen de Zapopan, one of Mexico’s most important religious pilgrimages and a UNESCO-recognized cultural tradition. Beginning before dawn, we walk toward the Catedral de Guadalajara, only to find it already filled with pilgrims who spent the night in prayer. We remain outside among millions of faithful, witnessing the Mass and the start of the long procession to Zapopan. After walking from the Cathedral to the Basílica de Zapopan, we wait patiently in the plaza, singing hymns alongside nuns and religious groups until the Virgin’s arrival. The celebration ends with a powerful and emotional finale: helium balloons shaped like a rosary rising into the sky. ✨ Las Fiestas de Octubre are not just events — they are lived, walked, sung, and shared.
