Kenny Anderson for Hall Of Fame. I made this especially for a great case that is being made for Anderson trying to get into the Hall Of Fame. Ken Anderson was one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time. He played for the Cincinnati Bengals his whole career. Bill Walsh was his quarterback coach and is considered one of the first quarterbacks to run what would become known as the West Coast Offense. Was an extremely accurate passer. Who could also take off running and was exceptionally intelligent. His main target was Isaac Curtis who had lighting fast speed. The week before Anderson set a then record 90.9(20 for 22) percent of his passes in a game against the Steelers in 1974 this is what Jack Lambert had to say about Anderson. "But reacting to a guy like Anderson is going to be some kind of tough. you know he's completed...what is it? 65 percent of his passes. You know why? Because he is patient and never throws into a crowd. If a receiver is well covered he always goes elsewhere. Not sometimes, but always. Now that makes things tough. Besides he is an excellent runner. He is not what I'd call a scrambler but he is their second-leading ground gainer so you have to respect his running a lot." Anderson also gave the Steelers high praise saying "Look at their whole defense they have no weakness. They try to intimidate people. They're very physical. That much individual talent put together on a team defense makes them extra tough." After Anderson set an NFL record by completing 70.5% of his passes in 1982 breaking Sammy Baughs record. They interviewed Sammy Baugh and this is what he had to say about Anderson. "I feel good about him breaking my record. I've never met him, but ever time I seen him play on television, he looks awfully good. He's big and strong." This is what Paul Brown had to say about it. "I don't know if you can compare Baugh to Kenny. When I coached against Baugh, he was in the twilight of his career. I remember he was 6-1, very slender, a nervous, tightly-wound guy, a pure passer, great player." "His passes, though, were designed to be quicker and flatter. Anderson is bigger, more mobile. Kenny's way beyond Baugh, to me. I'd take Kenny," Brown said. I found a great article about Kenny Anderson. Kenny Anderson has said many times before that he thought the greatest quarterback of all-time was Otto Graham. Incidentally, both wore number 14. However, unknown to Anderson in 1975 the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette asked Otto Graham to be their first "celebrity" writer in their inaugural issue of Weekend Sports. He was allowed to talk about any sport topic he wanted to. He chose to write about Paul Brown and Kenny Anderson. He had this to say about Anderson: "I thought he was a better all-around quarterback than I was." Here is a link to the article if you want to read it. http://news.google.com/newspapers?id=...
