1979 IMSA RS Champion Spark Plug Challenge, Laguna Seca. Started 21st - Finished 14th... not bad. #12 Yellow / Orange BMW 1600-2, as you can see at the beginning I built and maintained it in the garage of my mom's town house in East Bluff, Newport Beach Calif - Don't know how I got away with the Community Association not complaining! I enjoyed the old Laguna configuration - fast track without the current infield section. Fun to look at my old setup: Ford E-250 van with a 460ci that I bought from my employer Performance Marketing on Airport Loop Dr in Costa Mesa (used to tow Wink's FA), IRD trailer I bought as a kit & Tig welded together at work, the 1968 BMW 1600-2 I built from a street car in 1976 / 1977 (AutoPower did the custom cage), tested at a Solo 1 at Riverside and ran my very first race in 1977 at the Laguna Seca IMSA RS race with a provisional license I managed to get with only a SCCA Solo 1 license! Fun times, great people and fantastic series - very special to me to have not only done it, but also to have video records of some of it - many thanks to the old BMWACA club members for all the help.
