GOES Project has just released a "movie" of satellite imagery showing the life and times of 2010's only June hurricane. From birth to death, the GOES-13 satellite kept an eye on the life and times of Hurricane Alex for two weeks in June, 2010. After struggling across hurricane alley during the last two weeks of June, constantly torn apart by upper-level westerlies, the tropical depression reached the calm of the Gulf of Mexico, and spun up into hurricane Alex in July. The storm worried the Deepwater oil-spill workers south of New Orleans, but the storm just blew into Mexico, sparing the US Gulf Coast, other than flooding the Rio Grande region. credit: NOAA-NASA GOES Project source: http://goes.gsfc.nasa.gov/text/goes13...
