Video Recording of NRC RIC 2023 Technical Session: Empowering Advanced Nuclear Deployment with Non-Power Reactors This session will focus on the expanding role of non-power reactors in developing and demonstrating advanced reactor technologies. Currently, industry, universities, and the DOE are working to deploy numerous research and development facilities focused on gathering experimental data, testing novel components, refining designs, and demonstrating the ability of advanced reactor technologies to produce energy for electricity generation and heat energy applications. External panelists will share strategies for using research reactors and testing facilities to further the state-of-the-art in advanced reactor technologies and support the deployment of new advanced power reactors. NRC panelists will discuss ongoing pre-application engagement and licensing and the role research and development facilities can play in the regulatory process for advance power reactor licensing.
