Why conceptual reading is hard and how to skim text to improve understanding. To be creative, we need a deep knowledge in one or a few fields. A great way to build this conceptual knowledge is by reading advanced texts. But conceptual reading often is hard, because we don't know yet which concepts are important and how they relate to other concepts. Integrating structured skimming, also called pseudo-skimming, into our book reading process can help us understand advanced texts quicker and retain the knowledge longer.
