Welcome back, astrophotographers! Join us as we explore the exciting setup and first light of our new 10" RC astrograph reflector—a telescope renowned for its sharp star shapes and robust collimation. In this video, we take you through the unboxing, setup, and customization process, including attaching a field rotator, autofocuser, and tackling challenges like dew prevention. A standout highlight is the Observatory Flap Panel (OFP)—an innovative flat calibration tool we tested for the first time. This unique design simplifies calibration with features like a compression ring and sideways motion, solving mounting challenges with our custom clamps. We tested this 25kg setup on the EQ6R-Pro mount, pushing its limits at 1600mm focal length. Despite initial skepticism, the mount performed well, delivering round stars during imaging sessions. For first light, we captured the Deer Lick Group and Stephan’s Quintet.
