Turning a Tenon with Hurricane Carbide Tools - The Woodturning Store

This is a continuation of our previous video where Steve was turning a bowl blank with the Hurricane Carbide Tools. In this video, Steve shows the next steps of turning a bowl. He goes over the tools and techniques of turning a tenon to attach it to the Dovetail Jaws. In this example, Steve selected the Axminster Dovetail Jaws Type A Plus and he briefly explains why. Continuing to explain how to turn a tenon, Steve shows for the first time, an accessory he uses to help him get the perfect tenon for the jaws. Using the Hurricane Tool Rest and Hurricane Roughing Carbide Tool, Steve starts preparing the end of the blank for the tenon. When the end of the blank is the right size, Steve switches to the Hurricane Detailer Carbide Tool to start creating the tenon. He gives us great advice on how to create the tenon for the jaws to hold it safely. This quick and easy way gives you the best contact with your jaws and makes the blank sit securely within the dovetail jaws.
