In this video we demonstrate the use the X-tip system for delivery of supplemental local anaesthetic intraosseously. Achieving profound local anesthesia remains a continual challenge in dentistry. This technique is used routinely in our office with excellent success. Technique summary: Anesthetize the gingiva first Select an anaesthetic with no epinephrine for intraosseous injection Break apart the canula/drill assembly before use Select the retromolar pad whenever possible (for lower 1st and second molars) Otherwise select a site with a larger interproximal space in the area High RPM (15-20k) light pressure in a pecking motion Use the mirror to hold sleeve in place while pulling the handpiece out DISPOSE OF ALL SHARPS IMMEDIATELY Get going!
