Care navigator no more? Included Health is going so “all-in” on building-out its virtual-dominant care delivery platform that ‘care navigation’ barely seems to cover the depth of the healthcare system CEO Owen Tripp and his team have built from the combined assets of Grand Rounds, Doctor on Demand, and the original LGBTQ+ focused Included Health. We pick up the story there, with the integration (a couple years old now!) and talk about how things have evolved into this “the-platform-AND-the-care-provider” all-inclusive approach and what it means for care outcomes and cost savings for Included Health’s client base of payers and large self-insured employers. Owen’s always one to be counted on for predictions about where healthcare is headed and for “hot gossip” and, in this case, both future-gazing and dirt-dishing focus on how virtual care is changing what’s possible for care delivery – and how payers and employers are looking at costs around it. “Integrated virtual care” is about to become a new buzz word as Owen predicts the death of "telehealth as we knew it" (a standalone, disconnected way to access a doc) and the rise of greater connectivity across different types of virtual care providers and specialists, particularly as companies like his get better at building out the technology and administrative underpinnings essential to empowering that kind of digitally-driven collaboration. If “integrated virtual care” is what’s ahead, how is Included Health planning to further differentiate its virtual care offerings from the likes of major retail health businesses and pay-viders leaning into omnichannel care strategies? How do they differentiate the ‘"platform" part of their business from other navigator-types like Rightway or Transcarent, which are building out PBMs and clinical networks? We dive into the details about Included Health’s proven cost savings to its clients, health outcomes data, AND chat through the hot topics of GLP-1 prescribing for weight loss and the deeply troublesome politicization of LGBTQ healthcare rights that strikes at the core of Included Health’s original communities-focused care model.
