This is a short video of the 1970-71 Boston Bruins' on-ice scenes in the movie "Face-Off". The 1971 Canadian feature film is about rookie Toronto Maple Leafs player Billy Duke (Art Hindle) and his romance with a musician (Trudy Young). The 70–71 Leafs served as Duke's NHL team, with players appearing in real game footage as well as many scripted scenes throughout. Leafs player Jim McKenny wore No. 18 with the team that season, and served as No. 18 "Billy Duke" in actual game footage. Many Bruins appear on the ice, including Bobby Orr, Phil Esposito, and Derek Sanderson, and Sanderson played himself in a couple of scenes. Notes: That's John Vernon as the Leafs coach, but I couldn't picture him as anyone but Dean Wormer in "Animal House" ... The single-player changes were face-palm bad ... Having Leafs PA legend Paul Morris announce the goals was great ... Have to disagree with Foster Hewitt, as I thought Wayne Carleton should have been the second star, not Mike Walton ... The on-ice scenes were well-received, but the same couldn't be said for the at-times clunky acting and cheesy dialogue. Copyright Cannon Films or any other party.
