(10 Jan 2022) Hundreds of protesters took to the streets of La Paz on Monday to reject a government decree that requires the display of the vaccination certificate despite the fact that the measure has been suspended until the end of month. The march was called by neighborhood boards and trade unions from the neighboring city of El Alto, a stronghold of the ruling Movement to Socialism (MAS). Wearing mouth covers but without social distancing, demonstrators arrived at the Ministry of Health and burned the government decree. Some prayed and yet others marched with medicinal plants. Protesters say they are not against vaccines, but rather against a mandate requiring people to get vaccinated.
