Do you know how it feels to be born without a uterus and upper vagina? 1 in 5000 women are affected by Mayer-Rokitansky-Kuster-Hauser (MRKH) Syndrome. Wani Ardy is one of those women. WANI ARDY is a Malaysian published author, poet-performer, singer-songwriter, and Founder of MRKH Malaysia. Mayer–Rokitansky–Küster–Hauser syndrome (MRKH), is a congenital malformation resulting in underdeveloped female reproductive system. Wani has been advocating and creating awareness through numerous media platforms both mainstream and online; national newspaper, magazine, radio, and television. She speaks publicly about MRKH Syndrome and infertility, and challenges the cultural stigma associated with it, even if it is often at her own expense. Through her books, poetry and music, she has represented Malaysia at various art and literary festivals since 2009 in Sydney, Jakarta, Makassar, Luwuk, and Singapore. In 2019 Wani became part of the Global MRKH conference in Melbourne, which was her first time speaking on behalf of her country as an MRKH advocate. Wani is an amazing woman and one of my favourite guests here on my show. Watch our interview and listen to her story from being diagnosed with MRKH as a teenager to the activist that she is today. She is living proof that without a uterus, you are no less a woman. Connect with Wani: Instagram: / mrkh.malaysia Facebook: / mrkh.malaysia
