Rise Up! Anthology | Chapter Seven | Red Letter April Days

This video is a summary of Chapter Seven, “Red Letter April Days”, from the forthcoming book, Rise Up! An Anthology Commemorating the Bicentennial of the 1826 Lancashire Rising and Chatterton Massacre, authored by David Gordon Scott and Kate Hurst (2026). This chapter will focus on the four days of the uprising, covering events at Blackburn, Chorley, Rawtenstall and elsewhere. As a preview, we have chosen to concentrate on the organisation of the protests, and the testimony of two men who witnessed the participants in action in central Blackburn on Day One (24 April 1826).
