Terry and I geek out on the track Jim's Blues from P. J. Proby's Three Week Hero, which was recorded 50 years ago this month. The session was something John Paul Jones already had committed to, before Zeppelin's first album was scheduled for recording, so he decided to invite the newly formed members of LZ to contribute to the session. One track in particular features all four of them playing a prototype of what was to come on the debut album session the following month. It was recorded at the same studio as well, Olympic in London , and the sound is very similar to I Can't Quit You and other tunes on the first album. This cut features some of Bonzo's signature early style fills and phrasing , and has two grooves....a slow blues and a quick shuffle.
