Healthcare Simulation Week 2022 - Ensuring Excellence in Simulation Education

Hear how three key #healthcare #simulation associations - including the Society for Simulation in Healthcare - are leading the way as champion collaborators and industry advocates in the United States and abroad. Andrew Spain is the Associate Executive Director for the Society for Simulation in Healthcare (SSH). Andrew discovered his passion for healthcare simulation as a Manager of the EMS Education program for University of Missouri Healthcare’s Level 1 Trauma Center. He came to SSH in November of 2010 first as the Manager of Certification, and then later held titles of the Director of Certification and the Director of Accreditation. Andrew is currently working on his PhD in Education at the University of Missouri, with an emphasis of Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis. Shawn Galin is a professor of Medicine in the Division of Pulmonary, Allergy and Critical Care Medicine and director of the Office of Standardized Patient Education at University of Alabama, Birmingham, is the president of the Association of Standardized Patient Educators, the international organization of educators dedicated to human simulation. Teresa Gore is a professor in the DNP and PhD Programs at Nova Southeastern University. Dr. Gore completed a post-graduate certificate in simulation education from Bryan LGH College of Nursing. Her research focuses on patient safety and innovative teaching strategies, including simulation and experiential learning. Teresa was involved in the development of the first standards of best practice in simulation. She is a Past-President of the International Nursing Association for Clinical Simulation and Nursing (INACSL) along with other board positions since 2008. She is a certified healthcare simulation educator advanced (CHSE-A) and has been inducted as a Fellow in SSH (FSSH). She serves on several committees for the Society for Simulation in Healthcare (SSH).
