Despite the extreme heatwave, the canal closed with hardly any water to keep me afloat, and the experience of having to stay in a hostel on an island, I feel deep gratitude within. We all go through some kind of problems and suffering, and all have a story to tell. I'm Dave, living off-grid on my narrowboat 'inspired by nature' on a British Canal and this is my vlog. As a single liveaboard, the nature that surrounds me keeps provides me with great entertainment and which teaches me so much about life. Ten years ago, I suddenly lost my wife to cancer. Suffering from depression, one morning I woke up in hospital, after attempting to take my own life. From that moment, and escaping the rat race, finding peace and tranquility on the canal, living on my canal boat, I've managed to turn my life around, get back on my feet, and now live life in the slow lane. In all the peace and stillness that I experience now, my happiness, self confidence and love has returned. As I'm inspired by nature myself, my purpose in life is to inspire others, by sharing my wonderful experiences. However dark life can get, light can always be found.
