On an ordinary morning, 28-year-old preschool teacher Esperanza was driving to work when she was struck by the “worst headache of her life". She was rushed by ambulance to Regional Medical Center (RMC) in San Jose, CA, 15 minutes from her home, where she learned the cause of her headache: a ruptured brain aneurysm. Only a handful of hospitals in the Bay Area have the specialized expertise and advanced technologies to treat such a dangerous and life-threatening condition. At RMC, Dr. Kansagra and his team performed the highly complex surgery that saved Esperanza’s life. But without these hospitals, Esperanza’s story could have ended differently. Now, massive federal budget cuts to essential healthcare programs and services like Medicaid threaten to strip away more than $1 billion from Santa Clara County’s healthcare system. Because of these cuts, the largest to Medicaid in the program’s 60-year history, local, high-quality care is at risk. Valley Health Foundation is urgently raising funds to safeguard care for all. With your help, we can keep care local and protect the future health of our community. Together. Donate today at valleyhealthfoundation.org. Thank you!
