Hosted by the Global Facility for Disaster Reduction and Recovery (GFDRR), this event shared ongoing efforts to advance Universal Accessibility in built environment through regulatory reforms. The event shared status of Universal Accessibility in building codes globally – findings from the recently published report, A Global Assessment of Building Codes, alongside applied examples of Building Code Checklist for Universal Accessibility in client countries, and discuss cost-benefit of advanced universal accessibility in buildings and trickledown effect on enhanced access to jobs for all. The session concluded with a discussion with expert discussants on practical approaches to strengthen regulations, implementation, and collaboration for more inclusive, safer, and greener buildings through the WBG investments.
