PLEASE COMMENT IF YOU LIKED THIS VIDEO - THANKS!! Here is a very useful website that list many vehicles with "reverse polarity" issues: http://www.ultimatehidkits.com/faq.php One interesting note about my 2002 Acura MDX : the Headlights were REVERSED. I had to "flip" the power harness into the ballast. the Fog Lights were NOT REVERSED. The wiring was straight forward. This video shows you how to upgrade your 2002 Acura MDX fog lights using readily available HID Xenon replacement kits. I used a kit made by Kensun, sold by Amazon.com. Specifically its the KENSUN HID Xenon Conversion Kit 9006 (HB4) 6000K Slim Digital Ballast (Diamond White) which at the time was about $92.00. The 2002 MDX fog lights uses standard 9006 (HB4) halogen bulbs. These are the exact same bulbs used in the MDX low beam headlights. So you can use the same kit for your headlights. (I did that first before I discovered the fog lights use the same bulb) The first thing thing to do is to remove the fog light housing. It's held on only with one 10mm bolt. Remove the bolt via the access hole with a long 10mm socket wrench. Tip: Use a magnetized socket or use chewing gum to avoid loosing bolt somewhere into the vehicle body. After the housing us removed, disconnect the power harness to the bulb. Then decide where/how to mount the ballast. The installation was very easy and straight forward. Kensun provided mounting brackets for the ballast which was not required. It was easier to zip tie the ballast to the car chassis. The longest time was spent deciding how to mount the ballast. After you install the ballast, remove the old bulb from the housing and replace with the new HID bulb. The wiring was pretty straight forward. Tip: Be careful NOT to touch the HID bulb with ANYTHING. Connect the original power harness to the ballast power harness. Connect the HID bulb harness to the other ballast harness. TEST the light (Power ON Low Beams then Fog lights). Tip: If you have to remove any lighting assembly to replace your bulb, always test your HID light before you put it back together. If the light comes on, SUCCESS- you did it!! Replace fog light housing. Replace 10mm bolt, and you're DONE. Total time approx 20 minutes. Performance of the Kensun HID is very good. Warm up time is 2-3 seconds, then the color settles to a very bright light light blue. Oftentimes high beams are used for "flashing" for safety. Due to the characteristic of HID warm up time, is probably why HID's are not typically used as high beams, but is certainly do-able. If you drive long distances and can use high beams for a long period of time or would like HID high beams for aesthetics, then HID high beams might make sense. Otherwise replace your high beams with a regular high performance bulb for that "instant on" for flashing. Kensun has EXCELLENT Customer Support if you need any help. I thoroughly recommend the Kensun HID kit if its available for your vehicle.
