NEW PARLIAMENT BUILDING OF INDIA This video is for educational purpose only it is not for commercial use. • The new Parliament IS SET TO BE COMPLETED BY DECEMBER 2022. • when the country celebrates 75 years of Independence, sessions would be held in the new building • the new triangular Parliament building will come up next to the existing complex. • IT IS DESIGNED BY Ahmedabad-based COMPANY - HCP DesignS. • IT IS A PART OF THE CENTRAL VISTA REDEVELOPMENT PLAN. • The national emblem is likely to sit on top of the triangular complex. • The building is also likely to have a ground plus two storeys. • The triangular complex would have 120 offices with six separate entrances for the public, MPs, and VIPs. The new parliament building will also have larger chambers for the Rajya Sabha and the Lok Sabha. In case of joint sessions, the latter would be able to accommodate 1,350 MPs . • The Indian Constitution is likely to be displayed for public viewing in the central foyer that has been renamed Constitution Hall. • According to a presentation given by Bimal Patel, director of HCP Design, the new Parliament will also have a separate lounge for MPs, a VIP lounge, and office space for MPs. • The new parliament building will be constructed by Tata Projects Limited • New Parliament building to cost around Rs 970 crore. • NEED FOR THE NEW PARLIAMENT BUILDING. • The shape of the present circular building designed by architects Edwin Lutyens and Herbert Baker in 1912-13, was based on the Chausath Yogini temple, one of the oldest heritage sites in India. • Two floors were added in 1956 because of the demand for space. • the construction of the Parliament building began in 1921 • and it was commissioned in 1927. • this “building is already 93 years old and has since been declared heritage grade-I building. • “Over the years, the parliamentary activities and the number of people working therein and visitors have increased manifold.
