Walking the Cotswold Way Ep12 - Wotton-Under-Edge to Hawksbury Upton

The Cotswold Way – a truly beautiful National Trail stretching just over 100 miles. It begins in the charming market town of Chipping Campden, meanders south through the heart of the Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and finishes in the historic City of Bath. Join me on this series every Sunday as I set out to walk and film every single step of this stunning trail, sharing the entire journey with you from start to finish. Part 12: Wotton-Under-Edge to Hawkesbury Upton – 7.4 miles (11.9 km) Leaving Wotton-Under-Edge, we follow a peaceful stream as the Cotswold Way climbs back up onto the escarpment. Along the way, we pass close to the National Trust property of Newark Park, offering a glimpse of its beauty. The trail then leads us to the village of Alderley, down a charming, sunken woodland track. From Alderley, the route winds through a tranquil valley, where remnants of Medieval ridge-and-furrow fields are visible on either side. As we reach Lower Kilcott, we follow a quiet road alongside a clear millstream, creating a serene atmosphere. The Trail then begins a gentle climb up to the Somerset Monument, before making its way towards the village of Hawkesbury Upton, where this section ends. This part of the journey is a lovely mix of woodland paths, historic landscapes, and peaceful valleys, offering a perfect way to continue our exploration of the Cotswold Way. This section has 984 feet (300 metres) of ascent and 623 feet (190 metres) of descent.
