Hello viewers! New video time. Next up is Earthshine from Vapor Trails (as requested by Jonathan on my Ko-Fi page) playing to the remixed version from 2013. This is one I pretty much learned from scratch in the past few weeks which is rare for me with Rush songs. I have played around with so many of them over the years that normally when it comes to doing these covers it's as much a case of remembering the bass parts as it is learning new stuff for the first time, so learning and practicing this one was a nice exercise for me. I have listened to the song plenty of times over the years so I knew it quite well, but was still surprised by how many strange little details there in the structure and timings. The studio version has several layers of bass, so I used the live versions more as my reference for how I would play it. I initially wanted to play along to the R30 version but honestly couldn't really work out what was going on with the choruses to that performance! (Little clip from the Rio show is from the Rush Remastered channel - • Rush Earthshine Remastered 1080P ) As always with Geddy's bass lines, once I dig in to what's going on with the bass part the song goes up in my estimations a lot and I will definitely listen to this one more often now. Ok, now to share some ideas I have for content in the near future. I'm going to link my Ko-Fi page here in case anyone else is interested in it. It's currently quite empty and only really set up for messages and donations, but my plan is to start recording some tutorials for Rush basslines (breaking down the sections and explaining how I play them etc) and posting them there on the shop page for people to purchase for hopefully not too much. I'm currently in the process of doing a video about the flamenco technique which I will post on Youtube (if it comes out in a way I am happy with) and will see how that goes down with the viewers, and hopefully there might be some interest in longer more detailed videos for specific songs. https://ko-fi.com/hemibass Hope you enjoy this cover, and thanks to Jonathan for the request!
