Receiving the “Distinguished Alumni Award” fills me with immense honor and gratitude. The Department of Public Health at Chung Shan Medical University was the starting point of my academic journey. It was there that I developed a deep passion and sense of mission for public health, laying the foundation for my future research and teaching. Currently, I serve as a professor in the United States and hold the Charles L. Brown, Jr., MD Endowed Professorship in Health Promotion and Disease Prevention at the LSUHSC School of Public Health, within the Department of Community Health Science & Policy. My work focuses on cancer, tobacco control, and public health— the most pressing global health challenges. Public health plays a vital role in advancing prevention and promoting health equity. This honor is not mine alone—it belongs to all the mentors, colleagues, students, friends, and family members who have supported, inspired, and walked with me. I also dedicate this award to all those who bravely fight against cancer or disease. Their courage and resilience continue to motivate me. I am deeply thankful to CSMU for its recognition. With renewed passion and a strong sense of responsibility, I will continue to build bridges between academia, research, and practice, striving tirelessly for global health.
