This video shows you how to discover more about crystal structures using the More Info feature in CCDC’s Mercury. This tool allows you retrieve all text-numeric information about selected CSD structures (including many optional information fields), together with detailed descriptions of contacts and crystallographic symmetry, and summaries of user-defined objects and measurements, such as centroids, planes, distances and more. In this video: -00:20 Launching the More Info window -00:50 Exploring the Structure Overview and customisation of information fields -01:58 Viewing the 2D diagram -02:08 Viewing the Atoms and Bonds lists -02:30 Retrieving information about non-bonded contacts -02:53 Viewing centroids and planes -03:27 Summary of symmetry elements and operations -03:56 Viewing user-defined distance, angle and torsion measurements -04:34 Viewing the Complete Angles and Torsion lists You can grow your skills with using Mercury for visualizing structures using the free CSDU module “Visualization 101 – Visualizing structural chemistry data with Mercury” here: https://www.ccdc.cam.ac.uk/community/... For guidance on creating centroids and planes, and measuring various geometric features, we recommend exploring self-guided workshop “Measuring and Calculating Objects in Mercury” (MER-005) available from the CSD-Core workshop page: https://www.ccdc.cam.ac.uk/community/...
