In their initial consultation, they often use a ‘sex addiction’ language as it is the most familiar language: their behaviours feel like an addiction because they feel they are out of control. The psychological presentations of compulsive sexual behaviours are often misunderstood and mistreated. The webinar aims to clarify the confusion regarding the term ‘sex addiction’ for the more accurate and scientific diagnosis of compulsive sexual behaviours, based on robust sexological science. Compulsive sexual behaviour (CSB) is a complex condition whose presentation varies greatly from one patient to the next. It is important to have a solid assessment and a unique clinical formulation of the patient’s difficulties if the clinician is to choose the appropriate treatment.
