Retroid is a Super Metroid ROM hack that recreates the original Metroid (NES) experience using Super Metroid's engine. Developed by ProjectXVIII and released in 2016, it adapts the classic map while tweaking progression and disabling abilities like running and wall-jumping for a more faithful NES-style feel. The game features an auto-save system instead of traditional save rooms and includes extra bosses like Botwoon and Bomb Torizo, adding some variation. While not a perfect 1:1 remake, Retroid offers a nostalgic yet fresh take on the original Metroid. This is a hack I showed on this channel a while ago, but I never played it to the end, and the video had poor quality. Now that a new Samus recolor skin inspired by Metroid 1, created by Mattroid, was released, I decided to combine the two patches and thought it would be a good opportunity to redo the Retroid gameplay. But to combine the patches, you'll need SpriteSomething, otherwise the sprite will get corrupted.
