It was a dream trip — a public land whitetail hunt in a place many call the big buck capital of the world. We showed up expecting chaos, rut-crazed bucks, and nonstop deer action. But reality hit fast. The terrain was foreign, the roads were risky, and the deer acted nothing like we expected. It was a sea of endless opportunity that felt more like searching for a needle in a haystack. With just six days before we had to head home for Thanksgiving, we went all in — covering ground, adapting, and constantly reminding ourselves that speed kills. Then adversity struck. Drock got sick, and suddenly I was running solo, learning how to self-film on the fly. What started as a dream hunt turned into a grind.
