Patrick's review of the Polish PM-63 RAK submachine gun at ‪@MarstarCanada‬! The PM-63 RAK (PM-63) was designed in the 1950s and adopted into Polish service in 1963. It was produced by FB Rodom between 1967 to 1977. The PM-63 was designed to be a personal defense weapon (PDW) for non-combat arms and security forces troops who won't need to carry a larger service weapon for personal defense. The PM-63 was adopted by East Germany's internal security forces, Cuba, China, and sold to many other Asian countries that had friendly ties with Communism. The PM-63 has a unique design philosophy in that is an open bolt with the whole upper slide assembly reciprocating when discharging rounds. It also has locking lugs at the front of the upper slide compared to more traditional read lock lugs in most firearms. It has a variable firing rate reducer using weights and levers. This PDW typically has an incredible firing rate of 650 rounds/min. The PM-63 uses a double stack, double feed magazine with 20 to 30 rounds options. It primarily chambered in 9x18mm Makarov, but some examples can be found it being chambered in 7.62x25mm Tokarev.
