A scientific international webinar, a collaborative effort between Imam Sadiq Hospital, Babylon, and the Royal Victoria Infirmary, Newcastle upon Tyne. In this webinar, we shall focus on a truly important topic: The Golden Hour of Neonatal Care. What about The Golden Hour of Neonatal Care The Golden Hour is the critical first 60 minutes of a newborn’s life, especially for vulnerable or preterm infants. This period is vital for stabilizing the baby's transition from the womb to the postnatal life. • Main Focus Areas include thermoregulation, respiratory support, glycemic control, delayed cord clamping and skin-to-skin contact with the mother. • The concept, borrowed from adult trauma care, was adapted to neonatology to standardize and optimize delivery room management. It emphasizes team coordination, checklists, and timely interventions. • Implementing Golden Hour protocols significantly reduces complications like hypothermia and hypoglycemia. In preterm infants, studies show a marked reduction in serious morbidities, including Intraventricular Hemorrhage (IVH) and Bronchopulmonary Dysplasia (BPD). So, We are excited to learn together Welcome to all And Thank you all for joining us. Now we shall leave the air to Dr. Eihab Raad consultant pediatrician to start the webinar We are pleased to welcome our international guest, Dr. Naveen Kumar Athiraman, a Consultant in Neonatology at the Royal Victoria Infirmary Hospital, Newcastle. Dr. Athiraman holds the MRCPCH qualification from the Royal College of Pediatrics and Child Health and an MD from the University of Manchester. Over the past two decades, he has conducted extensive research on complex topics in pediatrics and neonatology. Notably, he led a groundbreaking study funded by NHS England in collaboration with Genomic England. This study facilitates the testing of newborns for over 200 rare genetic conditions using a blood sample obtained from the umbilical cord shortly after birth.
