Another video in our occasional series looking at past and present filming locations, this time we travel back to 1982 and a music video for Joe Jackson's single release of Breaking Us In Two, from the Night and Day album. The narrative unfolds around a distressed woman carrying a suitcase and birdcage, making her way through a series of misfortunes toward the train station. The video opens with her leaving her home in tears, dropping her belongings, and letting the bird escape. At the station, Joe Jackson appears inside a train dressed entirely in white. The storyline follows her emotional journey as she travels home, aided by kind strangers (including a station master and an older woman for tea), culminating in a reconciliation with her partner and a ‘happy‑ever‑after’ moment complete with a reunited bird and a symbolic hat thrown in by Jackson . However, most sources claim the video is filmed purely at Oakworth and the railway station, the famous Railway Children location... but we were about to find out that this may not be the case at all....
