Welcome to this Nikon D60 tutorial walkthrough. In this video, we'll guide you through the camera's essential operations, helping you get the most out of its features and controls. We'll begin with the battery. The Nikon D60 uses an EN-EL9 battery. To replace it, open the battery chamber on the bottom of the camera, insert the battery with the contacts aligned, and close the door securely. Always use a fully charged battery for optimal performance. Next is lens mounting and unmounting. Align the white dot on the lens with the corresponding mark on the camera body, then rotate the lens clockwise until it clicks into place. To remove, press the lens release button and turn the lens counterclockwise. For memory cards, the Nikon D60 supports SD and SDHC cards. SDXC cards will not work and may show a card full error. Insert the memory card with the label facing the back of the camera until it clicks into place. To remove, press the card in gently and release. Never remove the card or battery while the access lamp is active, as this could corrupt data. The hot shoe allows external flash compatibility, and the built-in flash syncs at 1/200th of a second. To adjust flash modes, raise the flash, hold the flash release button, and scroll the rear command wheel to cycle through the options. The mode dial provides shooting modes for different situations. Auto mode handles all settings for you. Program mode (P) adjusts shutter speed and aperture automatically but allows for manual overrides. Shutter priority (S) lets you set the shutter speed while the camera determines the aperture. Aperture priority (A) allows control over depth of field by setting the aperture, and Manual mode (M) gives full control over both. Additional scene modes optimize settings for portraits, landscapes, kids, sports, close-ups, and night portraits. Exposure compensation is adjusted using the EV comp button near the shutter release. Hold it down and turn the command wheel to increase or decrease exposure in increments of 1/3 stops. The Active D-Lighting button on the top of the camera toggles the feature on and off, enhancing details in high-contrast lighting conditions. Pressing the info button on the back displays key settings on the LCD screen. You can adjust these settings using the cross-pad and the OK button. To take a photo, ensure your camera is powered on and set to the desired mode. Frame your shot through the viewfinder, half-press the shutter button to focus, then press it fully to capture the image. That covers the essential functions of the Nikon D60. In the next video, we'll walk through the full menu system, explaining each setting in detail.
