This black & white educational film is about the training of U.S. Army Paratroops. This is circa 1943. The jump training was likely filmed at the paratroop training site located at Fort Benning, Georgia or Camp Toccoa, Georgia adjacent to Currahee Mountain. The ski segment was likely filmed in Aspen, Colorado near the 10th Mountain Division's Camp Hale, where soldiers were trained in mountain climbing, Alpine and Nordic skiing and cold-weather survival. Opening titles: The United States Government presents Paratroops (:08-:22). Paratroopers in the sky. Paratroopers march. Paratroopers train, they climb and jump. A practice chute on the ground is inflated by a large fan. A drop from a 200 ft tower as a test (:23-1:36). Men review a parachute and learn how to pack one. How to time a jump is practiced on the ground. A practice drop from a tower, close to the ground (1:37-2:43). Final inspection. The paratroopers load into a plane. The plane takes off. The men stand in formation inside the plane. The door is opened and the men jump their first time. Paratroopers fill the sky with their parachutes (2:44-4:05). Paratroopers land on the ground. They drop the chute and get into position with their rifles. Snowy mountains, most likely the Rockies. Ski troops wax their wooden skis. An instructor teaches the men how to walk on skis. How to fall is taught (4:06-5:43). How to turn going down a hill. Walking up a hill with the sidestep. How to do a 'right about face turn.' Men walk up a hill (5:44-6:46). Men ski down a hill. Men walk through the snow. Men lock arms and trudge through the snow. The men build shelter with the snow (6:47-7:56. Men get their rifles ready. Paratroopers jump from an airplane. The paratroopers land on the snow. They then pack their chutes and grab their rifles and start walking (7:57-9:02). End credits (9:03-9:10).
