Shorts at https://bit.ly/3MmO0Ef China vs. India: Comparing largest cities by #TOP10Channel Data: World Urbanization Prospects: The 2018 Revision, Online Edition India and China are the two most populous countries in the world with approx. one-third of the world's population living there. According to the UN projection, India had an estimated population of 1.37 billion and China's 1.43 billion in 2019. India and China are also the largest economies in the world and urbanization occur strongly there. Large cities play important role in economic activities and the development of communities and become the driving factors for the modernization process in both China and India. More than half of the population living in cities and as time goes on, it’s clear that more urban dwellers will find themselves living in megacities. Until recently, there was no harmonized definition of ‘a city’ for Asia and other countries as well. This undermined the comparability, and thus also the credibility, of cross-country analysis of cities. To resolve this problem, in this video, the term of city is defined by the Department of Economic and Social Affairs under United Nations as urban agglomeration. That is a highly developed spatial form of integrated cities. It occurs when the relationships among cities shift from main competition to both competition and cooperation. As the world continues to urbanize, a handful of countries will account for much of the growth. Urban areas are the home of over 60% of inhabitants in China and 35% of China. Delhi, Shanghai, Beijing, Mumbai, Chongqing, Kolkata, Guangzhou, and Tianjin are the largest cities in the two countries. #TOP10Channel presents the video of #China_India #Largest_Cities (1950 - 2035) based on the most recently released by the UN population division in 2018.
