The research team led by NIED works under the Cabinet Office’s SIP Phase 3 theme, “Development of the Smart Network System against Natural Disaster,” specifically in Sub-Project C, “Cross-organizational Information Sharing in Field Response Agencies.” has been developing a common system that allows fire departments, police, and other field response agencies to share information smoothly at disaster sites. Over the past two years, the project has achieved major technical progress. However, it has also revealed important challenges for real- world use.
