"He's tangled up in all these terrible memories in my life and...I love him." This video is a huge departure from what I normally do which was really exciting and also really difficult. Going into it, I knew I wanted to try to work with some moments and clips I'd never been able to work into a video before. This video (as the title suggests) is all about Michael and Alex's relationship to the past and the actions of their parents/relatives. I always begin my videos with a relevant quote, and the one I used above just barely beat out "I didn't ask for this legacy." I was really interested in looking at how both Michael and Alex struggle to separate Alex from his family. With Michael, we see that made explicit in the quote I started this description with. For Alex, it's simultaneously more subtle and more complicated. I also wanted to look at the positive parallels in their family history. I hope you enjoy!
