Until now Texans have only been allowed to have a knife that is five and one-half inches or smaller.The new law removes all restrictions and ends a decades-long prohibition on the knives. Since the 1950s it was a Class A Misdemeanor to have, make, repair, sell or transport a switch blade in the state of Texas.Michael Cargill with Central Texas Gun Works said the change will affect the lives of several Texans, especially hunters and those who are now able to sell switchblades legally.That's why people lobbied for it to say 'hey there is no difference between a regular knife and a switch blade knife,' Cargill said. A switch blade is going to eject the knife out with a spring or something like that, and it shouldn't be an issue of whether or not it's a regular knife or it's a switch blade knifes.
