First station on my Southwest visit from August 10th - 13th was a sort of remote rural station of Ivybridge located between Totnes and Plymouth on the South Devon Line. 1. The Train I got off was a 1 car Class 153 on a service from Exeter St Davids to Plymouth departing Platform 1. 2 & 3. A 8 car Class 43 HST with the train mostly in First Great Western livery arrives on a service to London Paddington from Newquay. However due to the short platform, passengers can only exit from the front 4 coaches. It departs to it's next stop at Totnes. 4. Passing Platform 1 is a 8 car Great Western HST on a service from London Paddington to Penzance. 5. Another passing service this time a CrossCountry Class 220 Voyager on a service to Plymouth from Newcastle 6. A 7 car Class 43 HST forming a CrossCountry service from Plymouth to Leeds. 7. The Class 153 returns from Plymouth departs platform 2 on the return service back to Exeter St Davids. 8. Passing Platform 2 is a GWR in former FGW livery Class 43 HST on a service from Penzance to London Paddington with it's next stop at Newton Abbot with the rear Loco being '90 Glorious Years' 9. Another passer and another train from early being the CrossCountry service to Birmingham New Street formed of a 4 car Class 220 Voyager. 10. A double CrossCountry Voyager although a 9 car formation with the train fronted by a 5 Class 221 with a 4 car Class 220 at the rear on a service from Newcastle to Penzance. 11. To finish off the video at Ivybridge as the sun sets is a 2 car Class 150 in GWR Livery arriving on Platform 2 on a service to Exeter St Davids from Penzance. The station of Ivybridge originally opened on June 15th 1848. The former station building was situated on the North side of the track near to Ivybridge Viaduct. Goods traffic ceased in 1959 and under the cuts of Dr Beeching the original Ivybridge station closed in 1965. Today's station is sited to the east of the original opened in 1994 by British Rail at a cost of £380000. Up to 9 trains a day with most served by rural services running between Exeter St Davids and Plymouth or beyond on a stopping service to Penzance whilst 3 trains from London Paddington also stop here. However due to the short staggered platform layout, it's only long to accommodate 4 coaches and means that some of the services from London Paddington only the Front Loco and front 4 coaches can only stop in the short Platforms, although onboard announcements are made in advance for anyone alighting here. Filmed on Friday August 10th 2018 on iPhone 8 and edited on iMovie.
