Part of the University of Glasgow's Centre for Scottish and Celtic Studies monthly seminar programme. Ahead of the publication of 'Songs for George Thomson', Prof Kirsteen McCue discusses the relationship between Robert Burns and the Edinburgh publisher with whom he worked, exploring the conversations, processes and disagreements between the two as they collected and edited a wide range of Scottish songs for Thomson's 'Select Collection of Scottish Airs'. Kirsteen McCue is Professor of Scottish Literature and Song Culture, and co-director of the Centre for Robert Burns Studies. 'Songs for George Thomson' is the fourth volume in the OUP Works of Robert Burns, produced by the AHRC-funded 'Editing Robert Burns for the 21st Century' project.
