The “feels like” temperature stayed in the negatives all day at Mud Run Meadow, so today was all about keeping everyone warm, hydrated, and comfortable 🥶🐾 Shayla started the morning feeding the cats before heading to the bunnies to give them warm water and hay pellets. After opening the big barn door, the chickens let her know they were awake, so Shayla fed them next and brought out warm water so they could eat quickly and head back into their warm coop. Next stop was the cow barn. Because of the bitter cold, Shayla made the decision to keep Dwayne inside the barn for the day, while the Highland cows happily headed out to their breakfast hay. In the afternoon, Shayla came back out to refresh warm water and do cleaning chores. While cleaning the big chicken coop, she noticed Kiss had mud clots stuck to his feet, so she brought him inside to get cleaned up and dried before finishing the coop. She also checked on Clover’s bumblefoot and is happy to report it is completely healed. The bunny areas were cleaned and refreshed with warm water, and after the kids scooped the cow stalls, Shayla checked on Dwayne again. Once the poo wagon was dumped, she headed inside to warm up before heading back out for bedtime chores. Bedtime went almost flawlessly. The cows went into their stalls easily, and Shayla finished up by feeding the cats, giving the bunnies their hay cubes, and putting Honey into his hutch. The night ended with Bridgett boot camp. Shayla is on day four of working with Bridgett to help her accept spending calm, quiet time together. And it’s starting to work. Bridgett is slowly giving in. (If this continues, there will definitely be a full video documenting it.) Shayla wrapped up the night by telling the cows goodnight and closing the barn tight, thankful for another cold day safely behind them. #MudRunMeadow #WinterFarmLife #BelowZeroTemps #HighlandCows #FarmChores #ColdWeatherCare #HobbyFarm #ChickenCare #BunnyCare #CountryLiving #FarmLifeVlog #CowTraining
